Gohmert: I talked to a retired FBI agent who said that one of the things they were looking at were terrorist cells overseas who had figured out how to game our system. And it appeared they would have young women, who became pregnant, would get them into the United States to have a baby. They wouldn’t even have to pay anything for the baby. And then they would turn back where they could be raised and coddled as future terrorists. And then one day, twenty…thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life. ‘Cause they figured out how stupid we are being in this country to allow our enemies to game our system, hurt our economy, get setup in a position to destroy our way of life.

Really? We’ve got a real border problem and he’s worried about babies?

  1. NelsonOH says:

My God! Is this guy for real? How effing gullible/stupid does he think Americans are?

  2. Cursor_ says:

Yes destroy his caucasian, european, bigoted, isolationist, avarice-filled, geriatric, arrogant way of life.

Screw you! You tired old fuck. The republic will be better off when these scum are gone.

This isn’t a veiled birther argument or anything…

  4. Ah_Yea says:

    Misleading tagline and analysis. Again.

What he is talking about is the messed up American policy of granting citizenship to everyone born in the US, whether the parents are citizens or not.

What he is talking about is a long-term program to eliminate the need for student visas, etc. for terrorist to gain residence in the US.

I agree it sounds outlandish, but… why does he say “I talked to a retired FBI agent who said that” … “twenty…thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life … ‘Cause they figured out how … to game our system,”

Have a baby in the US, take him somewhere else and raise him to do bad things. Then he can walk straight back to the US because he is a citizen. Then do those bad things he was trained to do.
(BTW, Twenty … Thirty years doesn’t sound like a baby.)

I want to know if he really talked to an FBI agent who relayed this information.

Do we really have informants which can confirm that they already have been trying to do this?

Of course, I don’t have the answers to that, but I would hope that this Senator has his source handy.

I also notice no comment whatsoever on his last statement. Curious.

  5. Dallas says:

Sounds like a good plot for a movie.

  6. aslightlycrankygeek says:

Nice to see #4 had something intelligent to say instead of just reacting to a headline.

A bigger problem with our birthright citizenship, which very few other developed countries have, is that if the parents are not under suspicion of having terrorists connections before arriving, they will have a hard time kicking them out of the country once they have a baby. It becomes an emotional think-of-the-children issue.

However, I don’t think having babies here which could potential become terrorists later is too far fetched. Al Queda proved with 9-11 they are very patient. That was planned for 8 years. If they have enough indoctrinated kids, they could easily have a dedicated group by the time the are 18. I would guess, though, that this would be more of a backup plan in the cases where the parents do get deported back to where they came from. I don’t see this being a primary plan. It is like putting an undocumented, experimental feature in a chip that you may actually use several generations later if it proves itself out. If the parents want their kid to become a terrorist martyr, chances are they have their own terrorist aspirations themselves.

  7. jccalhoun says:

Just as I thought, the guy’s a birther. He cosponsored a bill about requiring presidential candidates to provide a birth certificate: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR01503:@@@P

and he also agrees with people who compare the president to hitler and thinks making BP pay for the oil spill is wrong http://youtube.com/watch?v=pQgqhntf-1E

  8. yankinwaoz says:

    Sad…

In the meantime real damage is being done by BP to America’s 3rd coast and the people and economy that lives on it. Far more damage than any terrorist babies could wrought in Bin Laudin’s greatest wetdreams.

Glad to see our Congress critters have their priorities straight.

  9. soundwash says:

(it sounds like he’s doing a clinton impression that was slowed down a quarter of an octave or so..)

Somebody check how much money this guy has gotten (or has invested in) the security industry..

Second, as soon as you see “FBI” -you know a looong line of BS is sure to follow..the guys at the top of the ladder sold us out a long time ago..

  10. Camacho says:

Gomer is probably turning a disadvantage to an advantage. Corporate America is trying to overrun America with outsiders. Corporate America is also responsible for the war/terrorism hysteria. So, he is beating him at their game. However, he will not succeed. The president seems likely to be a Kenyan.

  11. Ah_Yea says:

    Thanks, aslightlycrankygeek!

By your logic, every person that is born in the USA should be considered a potential terrorist because they can legally cross our borders.

Lets take it to the logical conclusion.

The solution: Ban American citizenship for all people, and have the government treat all people, whether born on US soil or not, as potentially hostile, subject to arrest and deportation at any time. Only then we shall be safe, since we don’t really know who may be hostile.

Since I was born in the USA, yet spent 12 years outside the USA by the time I was 18 (due to my father working for a big American company), I should be treated with suspicion. I speak a foreign language as the result of my education outside the USA… hence I am a potential terrorist.

  14. sargasso_c says:

Wondering how long before we see congressmen sponsored by Fox to go CSPAN with advertising.

  15. Steve says:

Can someone tell me why it’s a good policy to grant citizenship to a baby whose parents are visiting from another country ? I’m guessing there must have been a legitimate reason, maybe the assumption that the parents would settle here and eventually become citizens themselves, but I honestly don’t know.

  16. revdjenk says:

    @Steve…

“Can someone tell me why it’s a good policy to grant citizenship to a baby whose parents are visiting from another country ?”

First…it IS in the Constitution, but it could be changed.
Second, some people come here for the medical care, expensive as it is, as it may be better than in their country. (Except our birth-death rating compared to other countries is not so good! We are 44th according to CIA World Facts)

  17. jccalhoun says:

    Steve said,

Can someone tell me why it’s a good policy to grant citizenship to a baby whose parents are visiting from another country ?

It comes from the constitution. So it would take an amendment to change it. good luck with that.

The origins of it go back to English common law http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthright_citizenship_in_the_United_States_of_America#Legal_history Interestingly, while the Supreme Court has ruled that a child born in the USA to legal aliens is a citizen of the USA, it has never given a ruling on children born to illegal aliens.

  18. Alf says:

Did you ever notice that many politicians have been parented by foreigners or, even more suspiciously, their grandparents are foreigners. Many politicians have British, as in BP, sounding last names. Over 200 years ago the conspiracy which is causing the downfall of the United States began. Ask any Native American and they will tell you about foreigners…

  19. Glenn E. says:

Simple. Just tattoo “Born in the USA” on these foreigner conceived babies. And when they grow up. Their “guardian” can’t lie about where they were born. And maybe they’ll at least wonder why they are being sent to bomb the very place that bought them into the world. And if not. Well, then it’s not likely to matter what kind of logic is used to tell them different. Human beings have such an infinite capacity for believing the most damnable lies told them. And those who dare to think independently, are usually severely punished for it.

  20. Andy of Mayberry says:

Wow! who would have though Gomer would have turned out to be such a firebrand!

I can’t wait to hear what pearls of wisdom his cousin Goober has to add to the subject.

Steve, I totally agree with you. Who the fck are these migrant people coming into our nation and having babies on purpose so they could be citizens. We all know these God forsaken babies are going to become trash, hoodlums, and above everything else terrorists as Mr. Warns stated in the video.

Get it in your head people, we don’t want migrants, we don’t want migrant babies and we certainly don’t want Korean people (don’t ask).

Oh btw, how many of you have actually fought for the US? (me raising my hand). And how many of you are migrants? (raises hand). Golly, stupid me fighting for a country that doesn’t want stupid migrant, terrorist babies.

But I totally agree with you Steve! Send the FBI and CIA after me now…hurry while you still can.

  22. Dazed'n Confused says:

Actually “Stupid, Migrant, Terrorist Babies” would by a totally awesome name for my new rock band.

    Thanks Man.

  23. spsffan says:

As Timothy McVeigh and Ted Kaczynski and a few others have shown us, we are perfectly capable of raising our own home grown US citizen terrorists that don’t even look like Arabs.

I was born in the USA, of partly Cherokee ancestry. That part of my family knows full well about US Citizen terrorists, like Andrew Jackson, for example.

This Gomer character is both a Congressman and a full on Douchebag. But I repeat myself.

While I joke, it’s really astonishing how little many on here lack some of the basic US American history, or rather maybe were taught differently. It is as though US came to be because of “native” Americans.

    Simply astonishing.

  25. Uncle Patso says:

“… and destroy our way of life.”

By electing gullible, ignorant politicians perhaps?

Another naive politician falls under the spell of the Security Apparatus…

  26. Ray says:

I would like to ask when are we are going to start taxing these foreigners that come here and buy a bosiness and becomes federal tax exempt for several years which there are several million of them, it would help with the debt we have, better known as rag heads or sand people, middle eastern.
