I think I’ll eat an apple instead.

Microsoft has launched a Windows 7-themed restaurant in Taipei to promote its new operating system, an official with the US firm said Monday, on the eve of Asia’s biggest IT trade show.

The restaurant previously named “100 Seafood” has been renamed “77 Concept Store” and features seven technology-themed dishes such as “Electronic Beancurd”, priced at 77 Taiwan dollars (2.40 US), the official said.

Christine Chen, an executive with Microsoft Taiwan, said the restaurant had been picked for its popularity among small and medium-sized businesses.

The concept was inspired by a Windows cafe opened in Paris last year following the launch of Windows 7, she added.

Wasn’t Ballmer at the opening chanting, “Sushi, sushi, sushi, sushi!”

    Child please.

  2. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

This may not be such a good promotional idea if a case of food poisoning occurs. There’s nothing like bad clams to make your digestive tract do a complete BSOD with extensive error reports.

  3. Improbus says:

Then it would be just like Windows.

  4. Skeptic says:

Simply ingenious! I bet Apple wishes they had thought of that.

  5. Dale says:

Will you be eating that here or would you like it mobile?

  6. tdkyo says:

I am still mad that the Window 7 burger was Japan only.

  7. Milo says:

Do you have to eat every item on the menu in order to get a full meal?

  8. JimD says:

Bad Food to go with bad software ??? Intestinal Viruses anyone ? Yeech !!!

    in Hanyu Pinyin?

    Just wondering!

“I think I’ll eat an apple instead.”

You mean those things that used to be great but nowadays are nothing but overly GMOed to the point to be boring, tasteless and sugary empty calories and thus they have to come up with new “varieties” of the same thing over and over and over just to keep consumers fooled and interested in their crappy fruits?

  12. zybch says:

Looks more like Windows 98 to be honest, and even that was better than anything apple has pumped out before or since.

  13. sargasso says:

    the waiters are all Indians?

  14. jescott418 says:

Hey its looks more balanced then a Apple? I am just saying.

  15. Glenn E. says:

I’m waiting for the Windows7 Happy Meal. Is this really how you promote acceptance of a new PC operating system, over the previous one that many people found adequate enough not to abandon yet? By turning it into specialty food items? If this really worked at all. Then a certain food chain (the Hut) ought to role out a “Glenn Beck Nazi pizza supreme”. Or have some frozen Rush Limbaugh entries in the grocery stores.

Apparently, if your willing to put some iconic representation of a wholly disagreeable product, down one’s throat. Then you’re more likely to accept the “real thing” without much questioning. Is that the advertising logic here?

I’ll bet your toast if you get the Bluse Screen Of Death at that place!

  17. amodedoma says:

I’ll bet you’re toast, if you get the Blue Screen Of Death at that place! I really should pay attention to the spell-checker.

  18. Buzz says:

How about a Foxconn store in which all of the shrimp have committed suicide?

  19. Rabble Rouser says:

Bleu Cheese dip of death anyone?
How about a bit of the improperly processed blowfish sushi?

  20. yankinwaoz says:

“Hello. My name is Clippy and I’ll be your server today”.

  21. bill says:

    Clippy.. priceless!

  22. Rick Cain says:

    Make it authentic.

The food is very expensive, you are given a confusing choice of food “editions”.

You can’t complain if you don’t like the food, you have to submit the request via internet chat with some guy in India.

And finally right when you get to enjoying a certain food on the menu, they change the recipe and sell it to you for more money.
