World’s First Ever Undersea Restaurant – Ithaa FYI.

The world’s first ever undersea restaurant called Ithaa (which translate as “pearl” in the natives’ language in Maldives, Dhivehi) brought to you by Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. This undersea restaurant cost less than $5 million and is part of a project to rebuilt the Rangalifinolhu Island into a tourist attraction.

Neat! The fish can watch you eat one of their family.

  2. AC_in_Mich says:

    Wow

Food can suck, service can suck, who cares as long as the glass doesn’t blow out!

  3. yanikinwaoz says:

Kind of reverses the whole “Lobsters in the tank”. Now the humans are in the tank while the sharks get to pick their meal.

  4. Dallas says:

    #1 LOL.. Good one.

It seems like an interesting concept.

  5. Bro Montana says:

Will sushi be on the menu?

  6. Faxon says:

I have to take a piss.

  7. Glenn E. says:

Not for the claustrophobic diner. Is this place really “undersea”? Or is it more of a tube, immersed in a big fish tank? I’d like to see an undersea restaurant and museum, that was a huge glass dome enclosue, somewhere. And a tram took people out to, and into it, and back. But the problem would always be protecting it from the recklessness of maritime vessels and crew. Imagine some liner or cargo ship dropping its anchor, right thru the roof. This particular undersea restaurant, probably has its overhead fenced off from all shipping traffic. And swimmers too! Imagine eating there, and some fat old tourist swims by wearing a thong.

  8. Mr. Fusion says:

Sounds like a great experience. I’m not a big sea food eater but I’d love to try something like this.

  9. jescott418 says:

Humm, interesting concept but logistics have to be costly. Pumping oxygen into place constantly and the delivery of bulk food and supplies. I don’t know if Sysco has a sub?

  10. MikeN says:

And they say the cost of adapting to ‘climate change’ is high. The guys most affected are getting a head start, just like Japan and robots.

  11. Stella Lopez says:

When was this constructed? Guess I missed it when I went to Maldives for a vacation a few years ago 🙁 . And are you serious about the construction cost? I guess, if the same had been constructed in the UK or probably anywhere in Europe would have costed a fortune; atleast, definitely a lot more than $5 million.
