Apparently done for a photoshoot. You have to wonder why they do not use glycerine or just water? Why all this trouble? I suspect this is the model for the show too despite what all the Glenn Beck sycophants think. Apparently phony crying on a photoshoot is OK and sincere.

    Waste of bandwidth also.

Hey Alfred, glad to see you are posting.
Are we on for that $25,000 bet about Palin winning in a landslide in 2012?
    Your words, don’t forget.

I didn’t know who Howard Beale was, then I saw the Network “I’m Mad as Hell” clip

As long as yellow journalism drives up ratings, we’re going to have guys like Beck out there sensationalizing their broadcasts. Tears by Vicks? Spare me!

I’m still kind of suspicious of the context of this video having seen photo shoots I have seen the tricks photographers will implement to get the shot and this really isn’t nearly as damming as people are making it out to be. I was expecting to see this lead into a story on his show or something not this stupid shit piss poor job John.

  5. Hugh Ripper says:

I almost cried when I saw this. The guy is a button pusher and if needs to cry on cue, he will.

Then again its amusing if you think of it as comedy.

  6. sb says:

“my eyes are getting used to it” – Enough said.

  7. David says:

I would take anyone that started crying during their national television show with a grain of salt, whether for dramatic effect or just from emotional problems. Beck occasionally digs up a good story but he’s far from a paragon of virtue.

  8. Someone says:

    Oh.

    I had no idea.

Hey, Glenn, I’m sorry I called you a pussy.

  9. bobbo, how quickly we adapt says:

“F*ck it, we’ll do it live!”

  10. Jonny H says:

What’s wrong with y’all? It’s obvious with the “puppy-eyed” sad face that he’s doing is for satirical purposes not to fake sincerity like Dvorak is saying it is. Ridiculous.

  11. Sean Hannity says:

I’m getting a big kick out of you jealous losers gripe about Beck. He might be good but he’s no Hannity!

  12. Waltersobchack says:

Why TF is he always crying anyway?

What kind of loser cries and makes crying his shtick? He’s a grown man for christ sakes. What a little bitch.

He should show some tea-sack and be a man. Of course as an entertainer he is crying all the way to the bank.

  13. Friendly_ear4u says:

OMG you people have no clue about the “industry” Beck is a radio show host and an entertainer. This is a Photo shoot. He is selling books and tv show time. Duh! So what?

But you think he doesn’t believe his own words? You think everyone watching him are easily fooled hicks? Come on. Quit with the “I am smarter than everyone on the other side of my politics” bull crap already. Please! Ridicule ends meaningful dialog – there are idiots and there are really smart individuals on both sides, all Beck is doing is trying to make people see some forgotten values and add so momentum to the movement to have people wake up and see the corruption in both parties that is ripping our union apart.

    Why is that so bad?

Republicans and Democrats have spilt the last 10 presidencies 5 and 5. No party has reduced the fed in our lives, and no party has stopped selling us out. Wake up and understand that THIS is why the teaparty movement grows.

  14. deowll says:

If you were hither to unaware that Beck did some things for theatrical effect I’m sorry for your parents.

The man has made it as clear as possible that he goes over the top for theatrical effect on numerous occasions.

What other incites do you have to share? The directions of up and down?

  15. sb says:

The comments in this thread make it apparent that we really are over as a nation. “Keep Your Goddamn Government Hands Off My Medicare!”

“all Beck is doing is trying to make people see some forgotten values and add so momentum to the movement to have people wake up and see the corruption in both parties that is ripping our union apart.”

All Beck is doing is pushing peoples buttons in order to fill his own wallet. It saddens me that people are getting their values from these despicable moralising media clowns.

  17. noname says:

The sad truth is this stuff sells.

I don’t buy it, but/ America is full of dumbshits, like pedro, Alfred1 and Guilherme Cherman who eat this shit up.

  18. andrew.skretvedt says:

This huge gut-reaction knee jerk of a story was in desperate need of some context, so I’ve tried to find it for you guys. This is my guesswork below, but if correct, this info might shakeup the present commentary on this blog.

I’ve asked Glenn to confirm my hunch, but who knows if my question will cut thru the noise.

This appears to be part of the shoot which “TIME Magazine” setup so it could feature Glenn on the cover of its 28-SEP-09 issue. The photo the magazine ultimately chose is not one of him crying, but if you look carefully at the lighting and background and the shirt he’s wearing, you can see it’s a match for the video.

Yes, it’s staged, it seems to me that TIME’s photographer was “making” the picture convey, instantly, a pop-culture feeling about Glenn. That would be what magazine covers are all about (esp. TIME).

    The cover.

    The article behind it.

  19. dannythedog says:

Attention folks: Photo shoots use makeup and sometimes fake crying, they are not real. I hate to burst any bubbles, but in music video’s, people are not really singing, either. That is dubbed in later!

  20. Dallas says:

Until 2008 Bill O’Really was the scum bottom of the Conservative Press.

Now Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are competing for the slot.

  21. Sky3c says:

Say what you want about Glenn Beck but he was instrumental in bringing down Vann Jones and Acorn.

  22. JScott says:

Wow! You know the funny part is that this reaction actually surprises me. Not that sycophants come to Beck’s defense, but that they do so with such mindless zeal. Even when faced with video footage like this, the human capacity to shape reality to fit one’s ideas is amazing.

I got a similar reaction from a piece I wrote about Fox News in general.

People look at facts that support a different idea from the one they currently hold and they freak out. Most people look at the data in my article and tell me that the data must be faulty or biased. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Not a single person has given any data to support their claims. People who watch Fox are like Glen Beck in that they believe that if you say something with enough passion or conviction that the mere force of your belief will make it factual. IT DOES NOT!

  23. Beck U says:

I think it’s rather amusing to watch how people who hate Beck get so sucked into paying more attention to him than other things in their lives that are “more important to them”. It’s all so entertaining, and isn’t that the point?

  24. Mr. Fusion says:

I guess the passion of Beck’s supporters are also indicative of the general IQ level of the right wing nuts. Don’t question, just believe.

That they would fall for and believe with such sincerity Beck’s bullshit is a Pied Piper effect. Goebbels would be proud of him.

  25. derspankster says:

The guy’s a turd. A rich one, but still a turd.

  26. socialist from dubuque says:

    phony

  27. audion says:

Ironic: thinking about Glenn Beck brings tears to my eyes.

  28. Billy Bob says:

Dvorak exposes yet another fraud! Next up: supermodels don’t actually look as hot without makeup! Shocking!

  29. DeeBee says:

The studio uses these photos to upload into the teleprompter while GB is televising his show. Any photo can be superimposed to fit the story as he so tells it.
