Giving contraceptives to people in developing countries could help fight climate change by slowing population growth, experts said Friday.

More than 200 million women worldwide want contraceptives, but don’t have access to them, according to an editorial published in the British medical journal, Lancet. That results in 76 million unintended pregnancies every year.

Mostly every problem could be solved by having less people, yet this seems to be some Al Gore propaganda.

    # 34 bobbo,

Your responce(s) are all over the map.

What to say, where to begin, why bother.

  2. BertDawg says:

Completely eliminating Al Gore’s emissions would make the world a much cleaner and healthier place for us and our progeny.

  3. brian t says:

What does this have to do with Al Gore? He’s not mentioned in the original article, and even if he said anything like that, it would hardly be original. It’s not exactly news that the poorest, dumbest and most religious are doing the bulk of the breeding, while some of us have realised that we don’t need MORE people, we need BETTER people.

  4. qb says:

#32 Mark T. said “I didn’t come up with the Jimmy Carter joke but I thought it was the appropriate time and place to use it. I only wish I had thought of it first.”

Comedy is all about timing, and your timing was impeccable. I acknowledge the Buddha within.

  5. MikeN says:

Has Al Gore gotten out of his family’s investment in Occidental Petroleum? Or are they still drilling on Indian lands and offshore?

Has he stopped the zinc mining on his land?

  6. dewtheone says:

How about we eliminate ALL life on this planet and let the earth start over. Be interesting to see how many millenia it takes to get right back where we are now.

  7. Toxic Asshead says:

Nobody’s truly analyzing this. Any time Algore opens his greenhouse gas spewing yap, you need to investigate what he says for how it will make Al Gore more money or give him more power/influence. Remember, it’s all about Al – remember that it was preordained at this birth that he would be President: he still feels cheated of his birthright.

He has two motivations: To be Rich & Powerful and to take revenge against all of us for not voting him in unanimously.

  8. noname says:

    # 42 Toxic Asshead,

“Nobody’s truly analyzing this. Any time Algore”

Yeah, I see what you mean; I wonder if you even realize it your self!!!!

Especially since Al Gore is not even mentioned in the original article.

  9. Uncle Patso says:

All I know is, anyone in the whole world who wants birth control/contraception/whatever you want to call it, should be able to get it and it should be cheap, safe and effective, or else what has been the point of all our progress in science, medicine, manufacturing, distribution and marketing? If we can’t engage in a little recreational hanky-panky without being saddled with a rug rat for 18 or 20 (or more) years, do we really deserve the “sapiens” part of our species name? The fact that if cheap, safe and effective birth control were easily available worldwide, birth rates would almost certainly drop to sane levels would just be gravy.

  10. #31 – deowll,

Unless you are offering to make things better by offing yourself and your loved ones I can only assume you want some or or all of us to die.

    Naughty,naughty,

All of us will die no matter what we do. It’s not about making that happen any sooner. It’s about reducing breeding. Population reduction need not be by force. It can be by attrition and voluntary.

Thanks for the excuse to plug the nice folks at VHEMT, and don’t forget the V.

  11. #38 – brian t,

we don’t need MORE people, we need BETTER people.

Golden snip award here. (http://tinyurl.com/36jqku) However, I think better people is a very unlikely scenario. Involuntary extinction is far more likely. At least it won’t be my kids dealing with the idiots being bred today.

  12. jpfitz says:

It’s not greenhouse gasses warming the planet it’s all that sweaty hot love making warming things up.
Condoms would help the overly religious if they were seen as a capture device for the millions of
helpless swimmers. Haven’t figured out what to do with the precious swimmers, maybe a special depository.

The most disturbing is the unwanted born because of no access to contraceptives.

  13. pedro's Mom says:

I wish I had used birth control to combat my little shit storm. pedro became a determined little turd and the only person we know that can open his mouth and make his head disappear.

  14. BertDawg with empathy says:

    #49, pedro’s Mom,

    – Excellent imagery!! Very amusing.. You have my empathy, as I know a child like that. Not a week goes by that I don’t feel grateful (to the stars, or destiny, or whoever or whatever is applicable) that he occurred in someone else’s home and became THEIR nightmare.
