Brownie, a 4-year-old cat who has drifted away from his home, returned to the delight but then horror of his owners. Glad to have him back, they were in turn horrified that he had a 13-inch arrow stuck through his head. Luckily the arrow had only skimmed the skull and the little guy is expected to make a full recovery.
The local Humane Associate in Bloomington, Indiana is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of whoever did this.
1 down and 8 to go.
Just a jog to the noggin’ to remember the way home?
Wonder if it would work for car keys?
That looks like a bolt from one of those pistol crossbows. Probably juvenile stupidity.
How did it get through the cat-flap?
Also, how did they get it to the vet? I have never seen a cat willingly enter a carry box, nor a carry box large enough to house a cat with a bolt through its head.
(sorry for double post)
Done by a future wife beater, child abuser, or serial killer.
That’s probably true.
#5. who reads DU.
I’d pay $500 for the chance to beat the crap out of the person who did this. Definitely crossbow, too long for the pistol type – 13″.
Forget the pistol cross bow. Even the cheapest ones have about a 40 pound pull and while the tip has been broken off the shaft is still much to long.
This was almost certainly done with a very low powered bow with a very cheap pile point or it wouldn’t have been still stuck in his head. It would have been long gone. It does seem to have made it all the way to the fletching.
I know the 5 cats sitting here with me would like to catch the perpetrator out alone some night and eat their eyeballs.
It looks like the Peking Moon will be serving pork tonight.
That’s really irresponsible.
At least, use a second arrow to finish the job.
How far do they know this cat traveled? Do they know where the incident occurred?
Can I get my arrow back?
Disgusting Human, Amazing Cat.
If only they can talk, what secrets they can revealed.
Feral and roaming cats are devastating to natural resources, University studies from around the world have all come to similar conclusions. If you want to have a pet cat, follow the pet leash laws, and keep the predatory animal inside. One cat can destroy the mouse population (yippie say the idiots) yet Owls (many species of which are rare and endangered), fox, coyote, hawks, and many other wildlife feed on these mice. By endangering the population of their food sources many starve, which is a very painful and prolonged death, the real animal cruelty here!
These douche bag reporters should have studied and been prepared properly for this story, instead they played on the hearts of others who are to ignorant to see the devastating effects a roaming pet can have on the environment.
When the animal rights people get their heads removed from their rectums they should also take this woman and make an example of her by teaching other pet owners responsibility for their free roaming pets.
It also appears the reporter failed to mention how many cities and states have ordinances that allow free roaming pets to be shot on sight because of the devastating effects they do cause to environmental resources.
Some say “Awe, poor kitty.”
I say “Awe, look another retarded pet owner who should be made into a public example of how stupid she is by allowing her pet to roam freely and cause environmental havoc.”
If it were my cat, I would give the arrow back to the owner by firing it through his head and seeing how he liked it.
